January 18th, 2016

I can’t believe it’s 2016. Students did a great job last week staying on task and adjusting to  their first week back from winter break. This week we will take a performance assessment in writing to see where they are and what I need to teach and review. In math, we finished up measurement and will continue with time to the hour and half hour. I sent flash cards home on Friday so students can cut, review, learn  and play at home. I will continue to give sprints on addition and subtraction facts. Reading is fundamental for first grade so please have your child read their A.R. library book and Raz kids books every night. Here are some reminders for this week.

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and joyful winter break with friends and family. I would like to thank you for all the wonderful gifts you bestowed on me. I truly enjoyed each and everyone.

This week’s homework will include a color square tile. They will use it to measure real objects using this unit of measurement. Have fun. We will also restart our weekly spelling test.

Continue reading to increase fluency and comprehension. Remember year end goal is 60wpm.
