Good Evening Parents,

I can’t believe we only have a couple week left until our first break. Time is moving along faster than expected.

Last week the class had an awesome time! During the last week of APEX, our class won the  APEX challenge for the most donations over the weekend. Then we won a popsiscle party  and came in 2nd place for achieving the most donations per lap for the APEX fundraiser. WoW! The students ran  20 laps or more and they  were exhausted as was I. Thank you to all our parents for attending and volunteering to help with the run. Hope to receive the donations in the envelope  that was given on Friday.

This week, the students will take their first A.R. quiz  which is comprehension from their leveled  library book. They will also take a quiz from one of their classroom library books. Please help your child remember important events, plot, vocabulary after reading and reviewing the book.

Also, we have picture day on Thursday! Don’t forget to wear your best smile.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful summer weekend with friends and family!

This past week  the APEX Fun Fundraiser  arrived with the APEX kick off Assembly on Monday. The donations  are directed toward technology and classroom improvements. Students have been given an access code to log in their donations; APEX recognizes students with rewards for their efforts in the classroom. The APEX team instructs the students in important character building lesson. As of Friday, our class is at $26/lap. Yeah!! We will be running laps this Thursday, August 17th from 9:00-10:00a.m. Hope you can come and cheer your child on.

On Monday, I will hand out the first Scholastic Book order form. Please check out the great books offered. If you’re interested, please fill out the order form and make checks payable to: Scholastic Book Club. You can also order online at http://www.scholastic.com/reading club and enter the code GJYZC for Mrs. Glover. I recommend the “Cuentos Foneticos” item # 43R1. These will help your child with phonics, decoding, fluency and reading comprehension.

On Thursday, we went to the library and students checked out two books. This will be our library day. Please make sure students have two books in their backpack on Wednesday nights so they can return them to the library.

Last, but not least, this Friday will be the last day I walk students to the flag pole. Remind your child where to meet you after school. It could be the flagpole,  the center courtyard or the back of the school by the kindergarten gate. They can also meet you in front of the classroom.

July 31, 2017

Good Evening Parents,

Hope everyone had a fantastic  summer weekend with their families and friends and are ready for another productive week.

Your children have adjusted to the daily schedule and look forward to P.E. and the three recess breaks. They eat their snacks during 1st and 3rd recess and are remembering to use the facilities and drink water during those times. Lots of the students bring their lunch and only a few are eating lunch in the cafeteria. That’s a good thing because sometimes the cafeteria line can be long wait.

This week we will be having our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) teachers on Monday a.m and Tuesday p.m. We will be starting the “About Me” presentations  and continue to learn about being a good reader and writer.

Homework was given on Friday and only the cover page needs to be signed and  turned in the following Friday. If there is a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to  send me a message on class DoJo or note in their yellow homework folder.

Thank you for your support

Here are some important dates

8/2 -PTA Meeting @ 5:30

8//4- Spirit Day- Wear Husky Gear

8/8- APEX Kick-Off Assembly @ 8:45

Good Evening Parents,

I hope everyone had a restful weekend.

Your child should have brought home the art project in which they are representing themselves using the  paper buddy. Be as creative as you can and complete the minibook pages.  Have fun. Project is due on Friday, July 28.

Also, this week your child  can log onto Raz Kids and Pipo and explore what these programs have to offer.  I added their names this weekend so let me know if  encounter any problems. Be sure to enter through the Hedenkamp Blog @ Hedenkampwordpress.com and scroll down to student links.

This week I will continue to review rules and introduce procedures.  Also, I will assess the students  so I will be able to gain insight into their learning and their understanding so that I may meet their instructional needs.

In addition, students will meet their new ELD (English Development Teacher) and obtain  instruction in English. They will meet Monday thru Thursday from 8:45-9:10

Please remember to view the Hedenkamp blog for all the upcoming events and important information about our school.
